The waters rise
Fill the dam of my heart
Swirling about, no outlet
Am I losing you?
You fade into the landscape
Familiar but far
Jesus, fill this heart so empty and forlorn.
Remind me who I am before I lose myself,
before I am in too far.
To be in the middle of a field, gazing up safely at your Creation
marveling at the stars you fashioned and designed.
To be swaddled in the soft grasses, hugging and embracing the whole of who I am.
When I am all alone, You remain.
If all I know dissolves
If all I love ceases breathing
If all I own washes away
Will you stay?
