Contrary to what may be indicated above, I am NOT beginning a blog-based revolution. No, instead I am embarking on a blogging resolution. I am not interested in attaching numbers or figures to this resolution of sorts, but instead I am aiming to incorporate more blogging into my life this new year. I enjoy writing, and something about the fact that someone may actually read my thoughts often helps me to process them in a different way. And actually make 'em sound decent.
There are many other resolutions that have graced the top of my list (even if the list was merely internal) in years past. Losing weight, drinking more H2O, exercising more often, reading my Bible every day, and spending more time with Jesus. Yes, these are all things that I could add to my list this year as well.
There is something about a new, fresh start that intimidates me sometimes. I love fresh beginnings, don't get me wrong, but sometimes the fear of screwing up paralyzes me. I have been on both ends of the Resolution Continuum: one year making detailed lists and plans about how my life will be changed and a new, improved me will emerge to dazzle the world. And then there is the slightly more impulsive and artistic side of me that throws my list out the window and decides to embody a resolution instead of making a list. Yeah. Neither have worked very well, lemme tell ya...
One prayer I have found myself coming back to time and time again this past year has been to simply know God. LORD, I want to know You. This prayer echoes deep in the halls of my heart, coloring both the surrendered and unsurrendered parts of my life. I want to know the LORD. There is something inside of me that knows that truly, deeply, engrained-in-my-heart-and-not-just-in-my-mind truth about God is also knowing (believing, claiming, living in the reality of) His unfathomable (slightly ironic, right?) love. And at the end of the day, love changes things. That is the conclusion I have come to this year, if any. Love is the unrelentless force that changes even the darkest evil, that can overcome any peril or persection. L-O-V-E.
And that is what I want. To be so hounded by His love. To experience the fullness of light and freedom that stems from the love of God as embodied and lived in Jesus Christ.
So here is to resolutions, blog-olutions, and revolutionary love.

BEAUTIFUL by MercyMe
Days will come when you don't have the strength
And all you hear is you're not worth anything
Wondering if you ever could be loved
And if they truly saw your heart
They'd see so much
You're beautiful, You're beautiful
You are made for so much more than all of this
You're beautiful, You're beautiful
You are treasured, you are sacred, you are His
You're beautiful
Praying that you have the heart to fight
Cuz you are more than what is hurting you tonight
For all the lies you've held inside so long
But they are nothing in the shadow of the cross
You're beautiful, You're beautiful
You are made for so much more than all of this
You're beautiful, You're beautiful
You are treasured, you are sacred, you are His
You're beautiful
Before you ever took a breath
Long before the world began
Of all the wonders He possessed
There was one more precious
Of all the earth and skies above
You're the one He madly loves
Enough to die!
You're beautiful, You're beautiful
In His eyes
And all you hear is you're not worth anything
Wondering if you ever could be loved
And if they truly saw your heart
They'd see so much
You're beautiful, You're beautiful
You are made for so much more than all of this
You're beautiful, You're beautiful
You are treasured, you are sacred, you are His
You're beautiful
Praying that you have the heart to fight
Cuz you are more than what is hurting you tonight
For all the lies you've held inside so long
But they are nothing in the shadow of the cross
You're beautiful, You're beautiful
You are made for so much more than all of this
You're beautiful, You're beautiful
You are treasured, you are sacred, you are His
You're beautiful
Before you ever took a breath
Long before the world began
Of all the wonders He possessed
There was one more precious
Of all the earth and skies above
You're the one He madly loves
Enough to die!
You're beautiful, You're beautiful
In His eyes
